If you guys have learned one thing about me so far is that I am big fan of mangos, but you may know that I also happen to also be a huge mustard lover. Just for the record, though, mayo is one of the most disgusting things on Earth. This sauce combines two of the items I mentioned above, mustard and mango, so I’m already a happy camper! I am having a hard time wrapping my head around this combo, but on paper I’m loving it. One sure thing is that the bottle looks like a Yellow Submarine, so let’s dive in!
Water, Mustard, Mango Puree, Brown Sugar, Habanero, Apple Cider Vinegar, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Lemon Juice, Sea Salt, Celery Seed and Xanthan Gum
When you open the bottle, the smell of vinegar, mustard, and mango hit pretty hard. The sauce itself tastes frankly a little strange, but I was expecting that at the start. I do get a little vinegar, garlic, and salt before another punch of mustard, though. I wasn’t sure what food to use this on so I tried it on a sandwich that I had earlier today, and again this just comes across as a strange combination. I do understand the combination attempt but for me it just doesn’t work. I had a friend over for dinner recently and he suggested trying it on onion rings, which sounds like a great pairing, but I haven’t tried it yet. Does this have a little heat? Yes, though not much. This might be something you might want to try with some kind of seafood (You all will have to let me know how that turns out). Overall I don’t think this an awful tasting sauce at all, and I have had far worse many times. I just can’t wrap my mind around this one. Neutral on Flavor and Mild for Heat.
